General questions

What is CBD?

CBD (Cannabidiol) is a powerful plant extract that has been used for thousands of years.
It is a Cannabinoid (which means it’s a natural ingredient found in the cannabis plant family) and there are over 100 different Cannabinoids present in this family. CBD is a naturally occurring chemical and is present in the human body.
The majority of CBD (including Gorilla Organic) are extracted from industrial hemp (Cannabis Sativa L.) which is grown legally all over the world.

Why use CBD & its benifits:

CBD is known for its relaxing and analgesic effects, but not only…
Laboratory tests have shown that cannabidiol acts as a neuroprotector and works effectively against multiple conditions such as:
• Anxiety and stress,
• Pain related to chronic diseases (multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, etc.),
• Inflammation and chronic inflammatory syndromes (ankylosing spondylitis, irritable intestine, etc.),
• Sleep,
•…

CBD oil is also effective in reducing the effects of acne, diabetes, or epilepsy. But CBD is not a medicine. It acts on the symptoms but does not cure.
Finally, CBD does not cause any psychoactive effects or side effects. Its consumption therefore does not represent any danger to health.

What is the FRENCH law on CBD?

The taking of products containing CBD is legal here in France, However, products containing THC, THCV or CBN at levels above 1MG per container, are restricted and as such are illegal in the France and Europe. All Gorilla Organc products comply with French, British and European law.

What are the differences between cannabinoids?

Although there are over 100 Cannabinoids, the two most commonly known are CBD and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). They are both very different and have very different effects upon the body.

  • THC is the compound which has psychoactive properties (affecting the mind) and as a result is currently illegal in France (however a legally controlled substance in the UK.) ALL OUR PRODUCTS ARE THC FREE
  • CBD (canabidiol) is the compound associated with the many wellness benefits and is legal in France and Europe. CBD is a hemp-derived oil with high concentrations of CBD, low concentrations of THC and is non- psychoactive. Although cannabidiol is one of many cannabinoids found in the Cannabis Sativa plant, including CBG, cannabidiol is distinct from CBG in terms of chemical structure and concentration within the plant.
Research indicates CBD oil benefits include its use as a neuroprotectant and potentially effective therapy for pain and numerous illnesses, including epilepsy, anxiety, arthritis, chronic pain, and cancer. With CBD showing such promise in treating these conditions, it is understandable that the wellness industry is abuzz with the addition of other cannabinoids.
Moreover, as researchers continue to study CBD, the lesser known cannabinoid, CBG) is making its way to the forefront of the health industry.
  • CBG (Canabigerol) While CBD is well-known around the globe as a popular supplement, CBG is relatively unheard of. This “first” or “stem cell” cannabinoid compound has the highest concentrations in flowering cannabis plants. Before cannabinoids are converted to THC or CBD, they are first CBG. It is after harvesting, drying and processing that the CBG is found in trace amounts, which has many experts deeming it a minor cannabinoid. Like its fellow cannabinoid, CBD, CBG does not have hallucinogenic properties. Many findings show that CBG has significant healing properties and could be beneficial as an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, appetite stimulant, and neuroprotectant. Early studies suggest Cannabigerol may effectively treat many conditions, including the following:
    • Depression
    • Anxiety
    • Glaucoma
    • Osteoporosis
    • Colon Cancer
    • Overactive Bladder
    • Psoriasis and Eczema
    • Inflammatory bowel disease
    • Chronic pain
    • Insomnia
    • Epilepsy
    • Huntington’s disease
    • Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA)

Any French legal CBD product must show what it contains and tests must be carried out on a batch by batc basis to prove the finished product only contains trace amounts of THC. It’s important to purchase from a trusted and legitimate manufacturer. Gorilla Organic’s products comply with laboratory requirements.

In fact, we have a specific laboratory employing a team of scientists to ensure our products are of the highest possible standards and deliver maximum performance to our customers and are given the Phytovista seal of approval.

Practical questions

Will it make me high?

No. CBD is non-psychoactive and does not make you “high”.

Can you overdose on CBD?

No. CBD is non-toxic, as such no fatal overdose levels have ever been reported. Several studies have evaluated the safety of CBD in adults and concluded that it’s well tolerated to levels greater than the average person would need.

Should I take CBD if am taking other medication?

CBD inhibits the enzyme CYP450, as does grapefruit. Some medications are eliminated from the body by the liver using this enzyme so inhibiting it actually increases the amount of the medication left circulating in your body. Think of the liver as a waste treatment plant in the body and of CYP450 as one of the filters. Stopping CYP450 from working allows more waste to get through. Drugs you ingest are treated as ‘waste’ by the body which is why you might need to take the same drug three or four times a day to keep it working.

Not all drugs are removed by the liver and of those that are, not all rely on this enzyme. However, it is good advice to say that; IF the drug you are taking mentions grapefruit in the Patient Information Leaflet, or if you’ve been advised to avoid grapefruit by your doctor or pharmacist, you shouldn’t take CBD before asking their advice.

Will I fail a drugs test if I take CBD?

Any legal CBD products sold in tFrance must contain only trace amounts of THC (the element that a drug test focusses on). You would have to consume large volumes of product to fail a drugs test from CBD products alone. The entire range of Gorilla Organic’s products are fully compliant with French law.

How can I take CBD?

CBD is best absorbed sublingually (which means administered under the tongue) which is why the majority of products are available in oil format. This is by far the preferred format of choice by consumers. However, there are a large variety of ways CBD can be delivered from adding it to your tea or coffee, swallowing in capsules or rubbing it on your skin as a balm. Gorilla Organic offers the best formats.

Help in choosing

How do I work out what strength a CBD product is?

% CBD is the strength or concentration of CBD in the product. It represents the amount of CBD in the amount of the entire volume (ml’s) of the liquid in the bottle (combination of CBD and carrier oil) that is in that product. So, a product showing 5% CBD has half the amount of CBD that’s in a product with the same volume containing 10% CBD. Also, a product that has 5% CBD in a 10ml bottle is the same as 10% CBD in a 5ml bottle.
mg (Milligram) is the weight of CBD that has been added to the product i.e. 250mg, 500mg or 1000mg and are all common weights. The more CBD that’s in the product (in the same volume – ml) the stronger the CBD content.

To avoid confusion over what strength of product to select, and to make our consumers’ lives easier we have classified our oils into various strength categories. These being Low (5%), Medium (10%), High (15%), Max Plus (20%).

How can I achieve good value for money whilst maintaining high quality?

Consumers can vary their CBD intake by either the strength of CBD they take (i.e. 10% is 4 times stronger than 2.5% for the same quantity), or by increasing the volume they take (4 drops of 5% oil will deliver twice as much CBD as 2 drops of 5% oil).

There are many competitor products on the market with very low % of CBD content in large bottles, which appear to offer very good value for money. However, be wary as the low CBD content in them makes them extremely poor value compared to higher % CBD products.
Remember it’s the CBD that’s the expensive part of the product, and not the carrier oil. We at Gorilla Organic work hard to offer the highest quality of products, whilst ensuring our products offer good value for money.

What should I be wary of when selecting a CBD product?

The most important factor is that it’s produced by a trusted source who demonstrate they have all the required procedures, tests and documents to prove not only safety, but quality.
To clearly demonstrate the quality and content of our product we at Gorilla Organic have added a QR code to our product packaging. This allows our consumers the ability of scanning this code on their phone, which takes them directly to our suite of product lab reports, enabling them to see exactly what is in that particular product.

Why is there no dosage info?

Any manufacturer making CBD products cannot make any medicinal claims, nor can they give guidance to consumers on what dosage they should take. Our experience shows that each person takes CBD for different reasons and each person’s requirements are unique to them. What works for one person using CBD will vary from another. So theoretically, two people in the same household could share the same bottle of CBD oil.
